Harrah's Louisiana Downs Racetrack and Casino
The merger of a casino with an existing racetrack, a boon to expanding tourism and gaming industries
Manning, in conjunction with Marnell Corrao Architects of Las Vegas, redeveloped Louisiana Downs, adding a casino to the existing racetrack. Opened in May 2004, the new Harrah’s Louisiana Downs Racetrack and Casino is an integral component of the Shreveport/Bossier City area’s rapidly expanding tourism and gaming industries.
Phase One of the project encompassed the renovation of the existing facility, incorporating a temporary casino into the existing building, and the renovation of the grandstand area, as well as support and administration areas. Phase Two of the project included the construction of a new 158,000-square-foot casino with 15,000 square feet of casino gaming, sundry/casino support spaces, a 400-seat buffet, a 140- seat gourmet steak house, an oyster bar, full-service on-site kitchens, warehouse facilities, employee lounge areas, and 18,000 square feet of administrative offices.
