State-of-the-art training for tomorrow's workforce.
Located on the main campus of Delgado Community College, the new 40,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility will house the Culinary Arts and Industrial Workforce programs. Manning assisted the college in selecting the City Park Avenue site through a site assessment phase that considered future potential growth of the campus and a prominent location to draw students.
The Culinary Arts program will include new, fully equipped teaching kitchens, a demonstration kitchen with tiered seating for over 70 students, a multi-purpose dining room that can host student dinners, an outdoor dining patio and classrooms, computer !abs, and offices. The Workforce Training program includes large, flexible open workspaces for the Electrical and Welding programs. There are three areas of specialization for the Electrical program which include Commercial Electric, Maritime and Residential. The Welding areas feature a large indoor workshop with individual welding stations, CNC cutting machine, plasma cutter and saws as well as an outdoor area for cutting and grinding. Classrooms and computer !abs incorporate leading technology.
Manning is engaged in all phases of the project, including programming, site selection, interiors and FF&E. The owner does not plan to pursue commissioning, but the project is being design to LEED sustainability standards.
