Manning provided complete architectural services for the renovation and addition to Thomas L. Marsalis Elementary for the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). The existing 46,500 square foot building sits on ten acres, allowing for plenty of room for a new 28,000 square foot, two-story addition with service courtyard. The new addition and renovations met the DISD’s goals of modernizing the school to accommodate and adapt to ever-changing technologies that integrally shape education.

Our sustainable design approach incorporated geothermal heating and cooling systems throughout the campus. The new design created eighteen new classrooms, an art room, science and computer labs, mezzanine learning space, new PA, security system, sound and stage lighting for the auditorium, landscaping, and overall site improvements.

Students at the Pre-K through fifth-grade school enjoy an enhanced learning experience through tutoring, extended day and Learning for Life programs, daily reading intervention with community volunteers, and additional club/extracurricular activities.
